First loves...

For many people literature was that first friend...the first to talk to us, the first to understand us. Literature has always been that kind of friend to me. And like any relationship... I watched it grow, I watched it change. The union of literature to the “mainstream”... was a hard thing to imagine. Reading was always this personal thing that belonged to just me. Starting with “Harry Potter" and “Twilight” anyone with a library card or a Nook could get a piece of Literature. I knew I was gonna have to share...and that was hard to get used to. But just when I thought I knew everything there is to know about literature, it found a way to surprise me... and reminded me why I fell in love in the first place. I remembered the exact day I fell in love with reading, and little did I know how much it would be a part of my life. Literature was as young, naive... confused... sometimes innocent, and sometimes as mischievous as I was. And as I grew up, literature grew with me...and along the way it took on all my baggage, my dreams... I felt literature and literature felt me. And I know that everyone who loves to read feels the same way I do.

  1. You are so right, Desmond. Reading books has become an important part of my life. It has helped heal so many aspects of my life, it let's me escape into a world that I have always wanted to be a part of, let's me do things that I have never done.....it sparks my imagination. I love my life outside of books but I sure do love running into each novel that I puck up to read. And u love sharing the experiences with like-minded people.

  4. I was a late bloomer to reading. I didn't pick up my first book until Twilight the movie came out & then had to read the entire series, twice. That was it for me. It started with YA and now it's all Adult and Erotic with some YA here and there. I can't seem to keep a book out of my hand for long. You're right, it's a game changer for life! The thngs my mind imagines is ridiculous!
    What a great blog!
